EUROSAI Governing Board Members Hold an “Off-site” Meeting in Istanbul



The Turkish Court of Accounts, as the President of the European Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), hosted the “Off-site of EUROSAI Governing Board Members” Meeting. The meeting was organized in İstanbul on 19 November 2018 with the participation of the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Governing Board Member Countries; the Czech Republic, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Latvia, Moldova and Poland.

The meeting started with the opening speech of Mr. Seyit Ahmet Baş, President of EUROSAI and Turkish Court of Accounts. In his Speech he drawed the attention of the guests to the name of the meeting, “off-site of the members of the GB” ,which reflects its informal nature and that is celebrated out of the format, agenda and structure of a regular GB meeting but more dedicated to strategic issues to move EUROSAI forward. He also stated that “In line with the aim and motto of the meeting -"Governing as a Team for the Future"-, we all will find a chance to discuss EUROSAI future related issues and hopefully it will lead the GB members to work as a harmonized and cohesive team.

The Off-site Meeting organized by the TCA for the first time promoted more dynamic, interactive and productive discussions in a more sincere and flexible enviroment with its design and methodology. During the first session of the Meeting, key principles of working as a team, weak points and challenges, cources of action were discussed and concrete proposals were consolidated to be submitted to the Governing Board as a “Good Practice Examples Proposal”. In the second session, SAI of Latvia and SAI of Turkey shared information on the recent developments regarding their respective portfolios and the way forward. This opportunity enabled the portfolio holders to take into account the other members’ valuable opinions and considerations regarding the further steps to be taken.
